WILL YOU BE MY COACH?

Will You Be my Coach?
This is a question I get asked often from business leaders and owners. My response is three simple questions…
Why do you want a coach?
What are you looking for in a coach?
What’s the first question you should ask a potential coach to find out if they are the right coach for you?
The first two are yours to answer.
The last one, I believe, is the most fundamental question to ask when looking for coach. The question is this:
“Do you have a coach?”
When I share this with the person seeking a coach as the number one question to ask of their potential future coach, I get a confused face at first. I follow it up with “Why do you think I would ask that question?”
After a moment or two to process, the response is usually (the right one)…
“To see if they believe in coaching?”
Correct.
Why would you want a coach that doesn’t believe in coaching enough to have one for themselves?
This is the first critical question in determining if you have the right coach. Then find out their philosophy on coaching (how they coach or their methodology). Then look to expertise in their field as a coach (HINT: Success leaves clues – Client results).
Here is my philosophy on coaching…
Sometimes I will push you. Sometimes I will pull you along. Other times I will enjoy the pleasure of walking with you when things are going great, but I will never carry you. You must show up. You must do the work. You I can coach you when you are in action, just not when you are in inaction.
Coaching is a part of our process at Circle Leadership. We aren’t “coaches” but we do coaching as part of our NEXT90 Business Evolution System. Leadership, business and accountability coaching is all included.
Find the right coach for you and your team.
