Do, do, do, looking out my back door...
Mar 13, 2024"If you want to know who is a great company to work for, look at how they handle people leaving their organization."- a #Clarism
So many leaders I speak to want to be the employer of choice, the best business to work for, and so on.
Leaders are realising that finding the best people and winning the war for talent is critical to thrive (even with the impact of AI and automation).
Winning the war for talent certainly has a lot to do with the people you attract and bring into your business...and that has a lot to do with the way you handle people leaving your business. Do you #fire people, or do you recruit them out?
You recruited them in...so why wouldn't you take a similar approach and recruit them out?
Just because someone no longer wants to be a part of your business, or the fit is not there anymore, doesn't make them a bad human being.
There's a difference between firing someone with a "Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!" approach, compared to a "How can we help you find something else?"
One exit strategy is a clear indicator that you view people as a resource, an expendable commodity, and a means to an end for your business. The other indicates you view people as humans first, employees second.
This should be a clear indicator for prospective talent of the type of business they are looking at joining.
If you want to be an employer of choice, a best business to work for, and win the war for talent...take a look at your back door, not just your front door.
It's time to lead different.
Together we can...
